Congratulations to Tyler Arnold the Member of the Month for May!
For many individuals, weight lifting is therapy. Hoisting hundreds of pounds of iron can serve not only as a mechanism to exercise a person’s muscles, but can also provide an outlet to exorcise personal demons as well. Over the past few months, Tyler Arnold has putting this into practice. After emerging out of what he describes as “the dark hole of addiction,” Tyler made the decision to rebuild himself. He came back to the gym on nearly a daily basis and set by set, lift by lift, he constructed a new, better version of himself.
Over the past 4 months, Tyler has made exceptional progress. He has added thirty pounds of muscle to his frame and saw all his lifts skyrocket. He recently hit a 420lb deadlift PR, a 300lb squat PR, and a 200lb bench press PR. He is especially proud of the bench press as it has been a life-long goal of his to bench 200lbs.
Tyler sees a number of parallels between the day-to-day battle in the gym against the weights and the daily battle to stay clean. He truly enjoys seeing the tangible fruits of his labor. Thinking back on all the strides he has made in less than six months, Tyler says, “It just really makes me happy.” Witnessing Tyler restart his life and make a 180-degree turn, has been incredibly inspirational. Although he is very proud of himself, he realizes he could not have done it without the support of number of key people. Tyler would like to thank the members of the gym, his family, and especially his parents.
Keep up the great work, Tyler! If his numbers continue to climb, pretty soon Tyler will be the strongest member of the Arnold household. Look out Matt Arnold.
